About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Investment, the Portfolio Manager will design and manage investment strategies aligned to client objectives and market conditions, while constructing and optimizing diversified portfolios to deliver strong returns. You will also ensure regulatory compliance, maintain client relationships, and contribute to business growth through collaboration and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
Investment Strategy & Execution
- Design, implement, and manage investment strategies tailored to client risk profiles, investment objectives and market conditions
Portfolio Construction & Rebalancing
- Create optimal portfolios that adhere to house view, client Investment Policy Statement and relevant regulations.
- Continuously monitor and adjust portfolios to reflect market expectations and client needs.
- Participate in research & review of investment opportunities.
- Generate returns in excess of benchmarks and peers
Relationship Management
- Maintain a cordial relationship with clients, custodians, administrators, regulators and other critical service providers/ stakeholders
- Strive to anticipate and solve client problems so as to keep relationships warm and maintain mandates.
- Ensure that reports to clients are comprehensive, accurate and timely and that clients are informed of investment opportunities available to them
Risk Management & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, client requirements and internal policies.
Business Development Support
- Support the Business Development team in obtaining new mandates and maintaining existing clients.
People
- Participate in company events such as webinars/ seminars/ workshops/ media briefings etc. offering training to the general public as well as existing and potential clients.
- Mentor and coach the fledglings in the team.
Innovation
- Provide support in investment product and business development, process streamlining and other opportunities to enhance value to clients and the company.
Who We’re Looking For
Essential Knowledge/Skills and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Financial Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Professional qualifications such as CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), ICIFA (Institute of Certified Investments and Financial Analyst) , CISI (Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments), or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- In-depth knowledge of Kenyan, East African, and global financial markets, including but not limited to equities, fixed income, alternative investments. Familiar with regulatory frameworks.

- Investment Expertise: Demonstrate knowledge of asset allocation, security selection, portfolio construction and rebalancing across fixed income, equities and alternative assets.
- Research and Modelling: Advanced skills in financial modelling, data analysis, and interpreting market trends using tools such as Bloomberg, AI applications.
- Communication: Have excellent verbal and written skills to present complex investment reports plainly to a wide audience
- Collaboration: Ability to work effectively across multiple functional teams to deliver client needs and company objectives.
