Job Objective/Purpose
To lead and coordinate vaccination programmes for school-going children and hospital employees, and oversee learner participation in vaccination services, ensuring safe, ethical, and compliant immunization delivery in line with Ministry of Health (MOH) guidelines, occupational health standards, and hospital policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee vaccination programmes for school-going children within the hospital and approved outreach sites.
- Liaise with schools, parents/guardians, and public health teams to coordinate vaccination schedules and consent.
- Ensure vaccinations are administered in a child-friendly, age-appropriate, and safe manner.
- Oversee cold chain management, vaccine storage, handling, and accountability.
- Monitor vaccine coverage, utilization, wastage, and Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI).
- Ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and follow-up of vaccination activities.
- Coordinate and oversee employee vaccination programmes in collaboration with HR and Occupational Health.
- Ensure compliance with recommended staff immunizations in line with MOH guidelines.
- Maintain confidential employee vaccination records and reports.
- Support pre-employment, routine, and outbreak-related staff vaccination initiatives.
- Provide vaccine education and counseling to employees and other stakeholders where required.
- Ensure strict adherence to child safeguarding policies during all school-based vaccination activities.
- Confirm informed consent is obtained prior to vaccination activities.
- Ensure privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and safety during vaccine administration.
- Report and manage vaccination-related incidents, AEFIs, or safeguarding concerns.
- Liaise with MOH, County Health teams, schools, and internal departments on immunization initiatives.
- Prepare compliance, performance, and regulatory reports related to vaccination programmes.
- Support audits, inspections, and accreditation requirements related to immunization services.
Person Specification
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, or Healthcare-related field
- A valid Nursing Council of Kenya license
- Updated BLS and ACLS certification
- ATLS certification will be an added advantage
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a hospital setting
- Experience in hospital-related chronic care programmes will be an added advantage
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
