Applications Developer
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OVERVIEW
- Developing and maintaining University applications
- Updating and supporting the University website
- Providing Library Technology Platforms Support- Manage systems such as Koha, DSpace, OJS, and remote access tools, ensuring efficient access to digital and physical library resources.
- System Integration and Interoperability – Developing APIs, bots, and automation tools to connect university systems (e.g., SIS, LMS, ERP,
- Library Systems) for seamless data exchange.
- Business intelligence and analytics delivery – Designing dashboards and reporting tools that extract actionable insights from university data using SQL Server, MySQL & PostgreSQL
- Ensuring Application and Data security
- Providing technical support and issue resolution to users
- Managing infrastructure and systems performance
- Maintaining and updating technical documentation for applications and workflows while ensuring alignment with data protection and accessibility standards for compliance.
Expected
- A relevant Bachelor’s Degree.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in software/application development in a professional setting.
- Experience working in or supporting higher education or research institutions is preferable
Skills
- Proficiency in multiple programming languages: PHP, Python, Java, JavaScript.
- Familiarity with SQL and database management: SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL
- Experience with modern web frameworks and CMS platforms: React. js, Angular, WordPress, Joomla, Ruby on Rails, RESTful API design etc.
- Knowledge of Linux server environments and version control (Git).
- Familiarity with public and private cloud services
- Familiarity with Library Systems (e.g., Koha, DSpace, Open Journal Systems) and academic technologies (e.g., Canvas, Moodle) is highly desirable.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics modules and its integration with other university systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Adaptability and responsiveness to evolving institutional needs
