ESG & Impact Analyst
Job Summary
As the ESG & Impact Analyst, you will be working in Nairobi and be responsible for capacity development and supporting ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) and IM (Impact Measurement). Your main role will be to work within the investment teams to support the implementation of the organization’s commitment to ESG & IM integration for our portfolio management.
Responsibilities and duties:
- Support the maintenance of the firm’s proprietary ESG management framework and Impact Measurement tools;
- Work closely with the investment team to conduct pre-investment ESG assessment of target companies;
- Monitoring of portfolio companies’ ESG KPIs and measurement of relevant impact metrics
- Support the annual ESG & Impact reporting.
- Support the collection of sustainability data regarding investments and drive the development and innovation of databases and tools.
- Support the process of visualizing data with dashboards to further advance reporting and progress tracking on Goodwell’s ESG & IM strategy.
- Support to maintain the ESG & Impact toolkit for investment teams.
- Coordinating the quarterly reporting and ensuring the quality of the content. For this point and the above, it is important that the ESG & Impact Analyst is not taking over work from the investment team but guides them, ensures consistency in reporting and good quality reporting (training and monitoring).
- Responsible for data vendor due diligence and contact, analyzing a broad range of sustainability data to enhance the tracking of the ESG performance of portfolios.
- Work with different stakeholders within Goodwell Investments to align, optimize data processes and contribute to Goodwell’s ESG & IM strategy.
- Follow reporting trends and developments in the ESG & IM disclosure field, and perform quality control to ensure data accuracy.
- Support the team and ESG & Impact manager with highly informative reports, presentations and research on ESG & Impact, as and when required for the purposes of stakeholder engagement & communication.
- Work closely with investment teams to integrate capacity development into broader ESG and impact strategies, contributing to the overall resilience and growth of our portfolio companies.
Qualifications
Education and working experience:
- 1 – 3 years’ experience in ESG & Impact Measurement, sustainability and/or monitoring and evaluation in a financial institution or enterprise.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field (Sustainability, Environmental Science, Development studies, Finance etc.)
- Strong analytical, data management, and modelling skills, proficiency in Excel and similar tools would be advantageous.
- Expertise in financial inclusion and/or social performance management is a strong plus.
- Proficiency in English.
