General Ledger Accountant
Job Purpose:
To ensure accurate review and posting of financial transactions in the general ledger, inventory management and bank and cash reconciliations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Preparation of journal entries.
- Ensure GL entries are recorded in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure integrity of the general ledger by performing regular reviews and reconciliation of financial statements and management accounts
- Inventory management including planning stock takes, inventory reporting and Inventory reconciliations.
- Bank and cashbook reconciliations
- Assist in preparing management reports and analyses to provide insights on the hospital’s financial performance
- Assist in preparation of budgets and adhoc analysis
- Support the management accountant in internal and external audits.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor of Commerce, Business Administration, or related degree with a major in Accounting.
- Expert knowledge of accounting, auditing, financial and management reporting.
- Computer literate and conversant with computerized accounting packages.
Professional Qualification
- Professional qualifications such as Certified Public Accountants (CPA) K/ACCA or CFA.
Job Experience
- Five (5) years progressive working experience in accounting
