About the Opportunity
The County Assembly Service Board of Mombasa invites qualified and experienced individuals to apply for various positions as outlined below. These opportunities provide a chance to contribute to effective governance, financial accountability, and communication excellence within the County Assembly.
Available Positions
1. Chairman – Audit Committee (1 Position)
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Set the agenda for each meeting with Committee Members.
- Provide oversight on risk management, controls, and governance processes.
- Follow up on implementation of Internal and External Audit recommendations.
- Support the Accounting Officer in audit and control matters.
- Ensure independence and impartiality in all decision-making.
- Review and assess the effectiveness of the Audit Committee.
- Provide clarification to Members on Committee responsibilities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting/Finance), Economics, Statistics, or related field.
- Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is an added advantage.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Audit, Finance, or Accounting.
- Membership in IIA, ICPAK, or CISA (in good standing).
- Proven managerial and professional competence.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
2. Members – Audit Committee (2 Positions)
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight on risk management, controls, and governance.
- Follow up on audit recommendations.
- Periodically review the effectiveness of the Audit Committee.
- Maintain independence and integrity in decision-making.
Requirements:
- Kenyan citizen with a strong understanding of County Government operations and financial reporting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience in auditing or financial management.
- Membership in IIA, ICPAK, or CISA (in good standing).
- Computer proficiency and proven leadership ability.
Note:
Members of the Audit Committee shall serve for three (3) years, renewable once upon satisfactory performance.
They shall not be past or present employees of the County Assembly or any entity that has conducted business with it.
3. Director – Media & Public Communication (1 Position)
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee and develop public affairs and communication strategies.
- Manage corporate communications and media relations.
- Advise the Assembly on media best practices.
- Coordinate major events, public functions, and publicity initiatives.
- Ensure public feedback mechanisms and maintain communication records.
- Manage the Assembly’s corporate image and stakeholder relations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Communication, Public Relations, Mass Communication, Marketing, or equivalent.
- Master’s degree in a related field is an added advantage.
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience as a Deputy Director of Public Communications or equivalent.
- Certificate in Leadership from a recognized institution.
- Computer proficiency and registration with a relevant professional body.
- Demonstrated administrative and professional competence.
