We are looking for a Production Operator to join our Phone Line Assembly, as we scale up and drive digital and financial inclusion across our markets.
This position is offered as an initial three-month contract.
- As a Production Operator in the Phone Assembly Line, your day-to-day responsibilities will include assembling smartphones following detailed drawings and instructions, and making sure each component is perfectly in place.
- You’ll load phone pieces onto the assembly line, and once everything is put together, you’ll pack the assembled phones into boxes for storage. Along the way, you’ll keep a watchful eye on the phone, troubleshooting any issues or defects that might arise. Your recommendations for process improvements will be key in enhancing operational efficiency and safety.
- If something goes wrong—whether it’s machinery failure or a major defect—you’ll have the responsibility to stop the line and halt production to maintain our high standards. Your quick thinking and commitment to safety will ensure the assembly process continues smoothly. You’ll also play an important role in keeping the work area clean, safe, and organized, following established safety procedures and contributing to our waste management programs aimed at zero defects.
- Working closely with your supervisor, you’ll ensure that equipment is in top shape, evaluate its performance, and suggest improvements. Your expertise in Kaizen 6S principles will shine through, as you apply them daily to streamline operations and maintain a safe and efficient environment.
This is an on-site role at the warehouse, General Motors (GM), along Mombasa Road.
Expertise
- To succeed in this role, we’re looking for individuals with a relevant diploma or equivalent qualification. A strong knowledge of electrical and electronics engineering is a plus.
- Experience on an assembly line or familiarity with Kaizen 6S principles will give you a head start, but a fast-learning attitude and the ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment are equally important.
- You’ll need to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics, have a good understanding of manufacturing safety protocols, and be able to work as part of a team with excellent time management and physical stamina.
- If you have an exceptional work ethic, integrity, and a passion for contributing to something greater than yourself, this role could be the perfect fit.
