Security Officer
Main Duties
- Conducting regular patrols of hospital premises to deter and detect security breaches or suspicious activity.
- Ensuring access control procedures are followed at all entry and exit points, especially in restricted or high-risk zones.
- Monitoring and reporting safety hazards, faulty security equipment, and breaches of hospital protocols.
- Responding promptly to alarms, emergencies, and security-related incidents.
- Assisting in initial investigations by gathering information, preserving evidence, and writing clear and factual incident reports.
- Liaise with local law enforcement agencies and internal stakeholders when required.
- Supervising and evaluating the performance of third-party security firms providing guarding or CCTV monitoring services.
- Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, hospital policies, and professional standards.
- Coordinate briefings, schedules, and shift handovers for contracted guards.
- Reporting malfunctions of surveillance systems and ensuring prompt repair.
- Monitoring the movement of hospital assets, deliveries, and supplies to prevent theft or unauthorized removal.
- Maintaining visitor and contractor logs and ensuring compliance with ID badge and escort policies.
- Conducting spot checks in sensitive departments such as stores, pharmacy, laboratories, and finance.
- Participating in routine physical security risk assessments
- Identifying vulnerabilities and proposing practical solutions to minimize potential threats
- Assist in implementing preventive security measures and follow-up actions after audits or incidents.
- Any other duty as may be assigned by the Chief Security Officer from time to time.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Diploma in Criminology, Security Management or any other relevant field. A military or police background is an added advantage.
- Basic first aid and emergency response training are desirable.
- At least two years of working experience in a similar position with reputable security firms or a public institution.
- Knowledge of healthcare privacy regulations (HIPAA)
- Strong observational, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, report-writing, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with electronic surveillance systems and access control tools.
- Knowledge of hospital operations and patient confidentiality protocols.
