SENIOR NETWORK ENGINEER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in the design, testing, implementation, operation and maintenance the Company’s IP network, Network hardware, network management systems, and interconnections with third parties.
- Managing large IP-MPLS networks and proficient in IP protocols (BGP/IS-IS and OSPF).
- Oversee Network high-availability dimensioning and optimization.
- Analyze statistics, logs and alarms from monitoring systems to maintain network health and take preventive actions as appropriate; making use of Performance tools: SNMP, NetFlow and SYSLOG.
- Assist in network capacity forecasts and planning of upgrades.
- Champion new Projects assigned to the IP Networks Team.
- Implement best practices such as ACLs, firewall policies and BGP route filtering and router software upgrades.
- Identify key areas of improvement in the network and suggest solutions.
- Develop network automation scripts using Python, Netconf/YANG and REST APIs.
- Be willing to research and keep abreast on new technologies.
- Liaise with vendors and service providers as required.
- Document the network architectures, configurations and Troubleshooting procedures.
- Available during network outages and be ready to engage any time of day/night.
- Provisioning of circuits for new customers.
- Participate in on-call Rota.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR SENIOR NETWORKENGINEER ROLE
- Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, BSC computer Science Telecommunications and Information/IT Engineering.
- Valid CCNP/JNCIP certificates (latest Versions), or a closely related field of expertise. CCIE will be an added advantage.
- At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role
- Deep Knowledge of MPLS technology (LDP, RSVP-TE, L2VPNs and L3VPNs)
- Hands-on with network devices (CISCO, JUNIPER, NOKIA and ZTE).
