Senior Product Designer – Retention Products | M-KOPA

We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to lead exceptional user experiences for our retention products as we expand and drive digital and financial inclusion across Africa.

This role offers the opportunity to shape how design influences customer experience for key financial products at a pivotal growth stage. You will create cohesive, high-quality user experiences across multiple African markets, collaborating with product managers, engineers, data scientists, and commercial teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct user research and translate insights into impactful design solutions for products like cash loans, airtime, and health insurance.
• Design end-to-end user experiences using and evolving our design system.
• Build prototypes and iterate based on user testing and feedback.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to define UX strategies.
• Conduct usability testing and apply insights to enhance customer experience.
• Engage directly with users to validate design decisions and ensure product-market fit.
• Partner with engineers to ensure seamless implementation of designs.
• Contribute to metrics and reporting that demonstrate design impact.

Location: This role requires in-market user research; candidates should be based in or willing to relocate to Kenya or Nigeria.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of product design experience in customer-facing digital products.
• Strong UX/UI design skills with a proven portfolio of user-centered solutions.
• Experience in user research, usability testing, and data-driven design.
• Proficiency with Figma, Sketch, or similar prototyping tools.
• Experience working with and contributing to design systems.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Ability to balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.
• Experience in fintech, financial services, or insurance is an advantage.
