Job Purpose/Summary
The Simulation Education Analyst, will work closely with faculty in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, and Medical College to design and assist in the delivery of simulation- based courses, sessions, and activities for their undergraduate and post-graduate programmes. The incumbent will also work closely with colleagues in AKU Hospital to design and oversee simulation-based CPD progammes for their staff and assist in the planning and delivery of events and workshops for external clients while ensuring that all simulation-based programmes adhere to standards and policies of CIME.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Works with faculty School of Nursing and Midwifery and Medical College and colleagues in designing and developing courses, workshops and programmes for their undergraduate and post- graduate programmes.
- Supports and runs life support courses as necessary.
- Assists in the day-to-day administration and operation of the Centre’s activities in teaching and learning, research and community engagement.
- Works effectively within project teams implementing pedagogies appropriate to the context. Disseminates information locally and participates in events to have a national impact.
- Utilises technological developments and innovations in support of faculty educational needs.
- Identifies redundant or obsolete methods of teaching and integrates research in simulation- based programmes and advises faculty accordingly.
- Contributes to audit of CIME facilities; market research in simulation education and evaluation of simulation-based courses.
- Assists in the organisation and delivery of events and workshops for external clients.
- Keeps up to date documentation of all simulation-based sessions at CIME (curriculum, evaluations and reports)
- Writes simulation specific scholarly articles and research proposals.
- Analyses data generated from the simulation-based sessions and make inferences to inform future courses.
- Undertakes programmes of CPD as required to maintain currency of skills and knowledge.
- Undertakes assignments in relation to Clinical Simulation in campuses across AKU.
- Contributes to Research Activities in CIME to improve educational, technical or administrative functions.
Relevant Experience and Qualifications
- Degree in health sciences in the field of medicine or nursing
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience is preferable, though fresh graduates may also apply.
- Previous experience of simulation-based learning is highly desirable
- Ability to work independently in planning, designing, and evaluating simulation-based programmes
- Internal drive to initiate new programmes
- Competence at Analyst level in 16 identified clinical simulation competencies at CIME.
- Sound academic record with interest in teaching and learning through technology.
