JOB SUMMARY
Ecumenical Pharmaceutical Network – EPN is a Christian, non-profit organization uniting health associations, institutions and individuals. Our members include a strong base of Faith-Based Organizations (FBOs) dedicated to delivering essential health services to communities in the most marginalised and remote areas, where national government systems are often limited. Founded in 1981 and registered in Kenya in 2004, EPN now serves 149 members across 38 countries, including 29 in Africa, partnering to improve health outcomes globally.
We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven professional to manage the implementation of capacity building program activities in line with the IMPACT Project implemented in Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania. The project goal is to ensure continuous access to quality health products and pharmaceutical services for the population in Kakamega County in Kenya, in Katavi and Rukwa in Tanzania and the Northern and Western Provinces in Rwanda through newly gained basic pharmaceutical skills in Medicine Supply Management and Rational use of Medicine and Dispensing for not formally pharmaceutical trained staff.
The ideal candidate will have strong coordination skills, a commitment to inclusive programming for elderly populations, and experience supporting healthcare workers through training and continuous learning.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Project Implementation and Coordination
- Manage the day-to-day execution of project activities in alignment with project agreements and donor requirements.
- Coordinate training needs across all member partners and ensure timely delivery.
- Lead and participate in Project Coordination Meetings to ensure alignment and accountability.
- Support master trainers (ToT) in Kenya, Rwanda, and Tanzania in delivering technical guidance to healthcare workers.
- Elderly-Focused and Equity-Centered Programming
- Ensure mainstreaming of the specific needs of elderly people across all activities and services.
- Advocacy and Capacity Building
- Coordinate the delivery of an Advocacy training for EPN implementing partners CSSC, CHAK, and BUFMAR.
- Oversee continuous learning on Essential Pharmaceutical Practices (EPP) and other online refresher modules via the EPN LMS Portal.
- Health Facility Support and Quality Assurance
- Provide ongoing support to health facilities and trained staff to deliver high-quality pharmaceutical services.
- Monitor progress toward project goals and performance indicators in collaboration with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Officer.
- Conduct regular monitoring visits on behalf of EPN to ensure quality and compliance.
- Actionable Learning and Closure
- Oversee the development and implementation of action plans and ensure adequate supervision of trainees.
- Manage project closure activities, including endline studies, in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education, Skills and Competencies Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy or any related Capacity Building field
- Min 5 years’ relevant experience in either Change Management in the Health Care sector or in Public Health would be an added advantage.
- Proven experience in program management, training coordination, and donor-funded projects.
- Experience in health commodities management, procurement and distribution up to the last mile level would be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusivity, with experience addressing the needs of elderly populations.
