Overall Purpose of the Job
The Project Accountant will provide support in accounting tasks to ensure proper financial
implementation and management of financial resources for assigned projects in accordance with
institutional financial policies and donor requirements.
Specific duties
The successful candidate will undertake tasks that include but are not limited to the following:
- Preparation of schedules for donor reporting.
- Retrieval and compilation of supporting documentation for donor reports.
- Review of financial reports and documentation submitted by sub-grantees or implementing
partners. - Providing guidance to implementing partners on financial compliance.
- Processing of partners advance liquidation and updating the same in financial systems.
- Facilitation of project audits including retrieval of supporting documentation.
- Preparation of donor funds requests.
- Performing project system updates including setting up codes and posting of new budgets and
budget adjustments. - Assisting in the preparation of financial reports.
- Other related tasks as assigned.
Requirements/ qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- CPA II or its equivalent
- A minimum of progressive experience in project accounting for at least 2 years.
- Relevant experience in auditing or financial management is desirable.
