Purpose of the Job
The Extension Officer will support the day-to-day implementation of project activities in their
assigned area, ensuring effective delivery of GBM’s watershed-based approach, community
mobilization, monitoring, reporting, and stakeholder engagement for successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA), Sustainable Land Management (SLM) and gender mainstreaming activities in line with project objectives.
- Support community-based initiatives including kitchen gardens, soil conservation, water harvesting, and fodder cultivation for farmers.
- Strengthen gender and women empowerment components in project activities.
- Collect and document success stories, video/photo stories, and timely progress reports.
- Provide technical support and capacity building to community beneficiaries and Green Volunteers (GVs).
- Monitor, track, and report on project performance, ensuring compliance with GBM and
- donor requirements.
- Build and sustain partnerships with stakeholders to advance GBM’s vision and mission.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Represent GBM in community and stakeholder forums as delegated.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Environmental Studies, Natural Resource Management, or
- a related field.
- At least one year of proven experience as an Extension Officer in community-based or
- natural resource management projects.
- Strong skills in community mobilization, advocacy, data collection, and reporting.
- Good communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and with diverse community groups.
