Job Purpose
The Network and Infrastructure Support Officer will be responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and maintaining the Bank`s network and IT infrastructure. This role ensures the institution’s systems are secure, reliable, and compliant with regulatory requirements. The officer collaborates with cross-functional teams to support mission-critical applications, improve system performance, and safeguard sensitive financial data.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, configure, and maintain LAN/WAN, VLANs, firewalls, SD-WAN and wireless networks.
- Optimize network performance and reliability for high-availability services as per prevailing SLA of the organization.
- Monitor and troubleshoot network issues to ensure minimal downtime.
- Implement redundancy solutions such as high-availability clustering and failover mechanisms.
- Implement and maintain security solutions and protocols, including switches, routers and firewalls.
- Monitor systems for potential threats and respond to security incidents.
- Apply regular updates and patches to firmware, operating systems, and software.
- Deploy, maintain, and optimize on-premises and cloud-based servers (e.g., Windows Server, Linux).
- Manage virtualization platforms i.e Hyper-V.
- Configure and maintain storage solutions, including SAN, NAS, and backups.
- Monitor VM resource usage and plan for capacity upgrades.
- Develop, implement, and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Perform regular backups of critical systems and ensure the integrity of backup data.
- Ensure infrastructure supports 24/7 availability of financial services.
- Work closely with application and database teams to support banking systems, payment platforms, and financial services applications.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for network configurations, procedures, and incident response.
- Manage relationships with hardware and software vendors to procure equipment and services.
- Evaluate new technologies and provide recommendations for future infrastructure investments.
- Ensure service level agreements (SLAs) with third-party providers are met.
- Assess and implement network optimisation strategies to enhance performance and reduce latency for financial applications.
- Evaluate new networking technologies to ensure the institution stays ahead of technological advancements.
- Perform firmware and software upgrades on networking equipment and servers with minimal downtime.
- Provide technical input and support for internal and external audits.
- Maintain compliance documentation and ensure adherence to policies for risk management and governance.
- Design, deploy, and maintain hybrid cloud environments to meet business needs.
- Manage cloud resources while optimizing cost and ensuring high availability.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related discipline
- Minimum 4 years in Information Technology with 3 years of experience in Network and Infrastructure.
- CCNA, Fortinet international certifications is required.
- Experience in working with FortiSASE ,FotiAnalyzer ,FortiSiem,Fortigate devices and applications is needed.
- Hands on experience in VM management and resource allocation.
- Experience in the use of various network monitoring tools.
- Have knowledge in drawing schematic network diagram for a business.
- Have skills of administering structured cabling in a Data Center.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance and network architectural designs for campus.
- Wi-Fi access point configuration with security.
- Knowledge of power systems.
