The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment and systems within the factory. This role plays a key part in sustaining high operational efficiency and implementing preventive maintenance measures that support continuous production.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: Minimum academic qualification- Diploma or Certificate in Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, Auto-Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Auto-Electrical training or certification is an added advantage, especially in 12V/24V systems used in commercial trucks.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance of heavy commercial vehicles, including diagnostics, repair, and routine servicing.
- Proven experience with fleet maintenance systems and working on multi-brand commercial trucks (e.g., Isuzu, Fuso, Mercedes, etc.).
- Experience in wiring and installing tracking systems or telematics (preferred).
- Familiarity with workshop safety procedures and preventive maintenance best practices. • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic codes.
- Valid driving license for heavy commercial vehicles is preferred and may be required for test-driving repaired vehicles.
Key Competencies
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical issues in heavy commercial trucks.
- Perform scheduled maintenance such as oil changes, brake adjustments, wheel alignments, and engine tune-ups.
- Repair or replace faulty components in engine, transmission, suspension, steering, cooling, and braking systems.
- Conduct road tests to ensure vehicles meet performance standards after repair.
- Maintain service records for each vehicle serviced or repaired.
- Diagnose and repair electrical issues including wiring, lighting systems, sensors, alternators, batteries, and starter motors.
- Install, repair, and maintain fleet management systems, GPS trackers, or telematics devices.
- Troubleshoot dashboard warning lights and onboard diagnostics (OBD) codes.
- Test and repair ECUs, relays, and fuses.
- Perform inspections using checklists and service manuals.
- Ensure compliance with internal and government standards.
