Who May Apply:
This position is open to U.S. Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) – All Agencies.
For USEFM – FS is FP. Actual FS salary will be determined by Washington D.C.

The selected candidate must be able to begin work within a reasonable period of time following receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications.

Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of a Consular Officer, the Consular Associate performs a wide range of responsibilities in the American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit, Nonimmigrant Visa (NIV) Unit, Immigrant Visa Unit, and/or Fraud Prevention Unit (FPU).

The incumbent provides consular services to U.S. citizens, conducts non-adjudicatory visa processing, assists in investigations and validation studies, and handles correspondence with the public, attorneys, U.S. and host government officials, and other stakeholders.

This position requires the ability to secure and maintain a Secret-level security clearance.

Qualifications and Requirements

Experience:

  • Minimum two (2) years of office administration experience (for FP-07 level), OR
  • One (1) year of office administration experience (for FP-08 level).

Education:

  • Completion of High School is required.

Language:

  • Level IV (Fluent) in English (Speaking, Reading, Writing) is required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and general computer applications.
  • Strong organizational, filing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to draft official correspondence and reports.
  • Accuracy in data entry and error detection in consular systems.
  • Tact, discretion, and sound judgment in dealing with the public under sensitive circumstances.
  • Ability to learn and apply U.S. and host-country laws and regulations.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
