Medical Officer – CCU

AAR Hospital is seeking a qualified and dedicated Medical Officer – CCU to join its medical team. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, treating, providing consultations, and admitting patients within the Critical Care Departments.
Responsibilities
- Ethically review and institute appropriate therapeutic interventions for patients admitted to critical care units or requiring critical care across the hospital.
- Review patients in other units where CCU/HDU support is needed and make appropriate decisions on required interventions.
- Assist in coaching and mentoring nursing staff on various aspects of critical care and management of critical illnesses.
- Perform medical procedures expected of a CCU Medical Officer.
- Ensure high standards of diagnostic accuracy and patient care are maintained.
- Prepare medical reports and other clinical documents as required.
- Ensure professionalism and timeliness in handling clients at both individual and departmental levels.
- Participate in continuous medical education, development of departmental clinical protocols, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Take part in research, clinical audits, and departmental review programs.
- Ensure consistency in clinical protocols and provision of care.
- Maintain regular and adequate communication with patients and their relatives on clinical progress.
- Advocate for excellent patient care and outcomes.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).
- Valid certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification is an added advantage.
- European Paediatric Advanced Life Support (EPALS) certification is an added advantage.
Experience and Registration:
- At least one year of post-internship experience.
- Experience in private practice is an added advantage.
- Valid registration and annual practice license.
- Registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board (KMPDB).
