Job Summary

Standard Chartered Bank Kenya is seeking a qualified Insurance Specialist to join its Retail Banking team in Nairobi. The successful candidate will collaborate with frontline staff to deliver professional insurance planning services, drive sales growth, and enhance client satisfaction across all segments.

The role involves analyzing customer needs, recommending suitable insurance solutions, and supporting the development of bancassurance strategies and processes that align with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy and Sales Management

  • Work with frontline staff to deliver professional insurance planning services and pre-sales information.
  • Analyze customers’ financial situations to identify their needs and recommend appropriate insurance solutions.
  • Recommend effective sales distribution and delivery channels to optimize performance.
  • Provide after-sales service to maintain customer relationships and generate referrals.
  • Conduct continuous product training and development sessions across business segments.
  • Manage sales productivity and conduct joint reviews with segment heads.
  • Support product development and implementation of systems that enhance bancassurance sales and service.
  • Drive increased penetration of insurance products across all client segments.
  • Organize and deliver at least one segment-specific client webinar each week (minimum of 20 clients).
  • Organize weekly sales and training meetings for segment front-liners.
  • Manage leads via Client Experience Management Systems (CEMS) and ensure 80% of leads are actioned.

Bancassurance Client Value Proposition (CVP) Management

  • Deliver a strong client value proposition for all bancassurance products.
  • Collaborate with product managers to identify market growth and cross-sell opportunities.
  • Execute marketing programs to expand product holdings and increase revenue.
  • Analyze customer bases to identify behavioral and lifestyle trends to increase insurance wallet share.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor practices to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with brand standards in all communications and marketing activities.

Portfolio and Marketing Management

  • Track and analyze bancassurance product sales performance and trends.
  • Ensure compliance with bancassurance processes to mitigate mis-selling risks.
  • Plan and implement marketing strategies to acquire, retain, and grow customer relationships.
  • Identify target customers’ insurance needs and recommend suitable product offerings.
  • Provide coaching, training, and motivation to sales and delivery staff.

Processes

  • Establish a standardized sales process for insurance products and services.
  • Support the deployment of systems and procedures to enhance sales and customer service.
  • Increase product penetration across all client segments.

Governance

  • Ensure internal controls are in place and compliant with systems, policies, and regulations.
  • Fully comply with all Key Control Standards and audit requirements.
  • Adhere to KYC and anti-money laundering principles, including identifying and reporting suspicious transactions.
  • Support business leadership in operational risk and compliance management.

Regulatory & Business Conduct

  • Uphold the highest standards of ethics, conduct, and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to Standard Chartered Bank’s Code of Conduct and regulatory frameworks.
  • Identify, escalate, and mitigate risk and compliance issues effectively.
  • Promote fair outcomes for clients and maintain a culture of integrity and accountability.
