About PELUM Kenya

Participatory Ecological Land Use Management (PELUM) Kenya is a national network of civil society organizations promoting agroecological principles and practices among smallholder farmers and pastoralists for sustainable livelihoods. The network strengthens member capacities, influences policy, and facilitates knowledge sharing to advance ecological land use management in Kenya.

In partnership with six member organizations, PELUM Kenya is implementing a three-year project titled Promoting Agroecology for School Feeding (PASF) in Murang’a County. The project aims to improve food security, nutrition, and pupil retention in 30 public primary schools through agroecological school gardens and stronger market linkages between smallholder farmers and school feeding programmes.

Project Overall Objective

Purpose of the Baseline Survey

PELUM Kenya seeks to engage a qualified consultant or consultancy firm to undertake a comprehensive baseline survey for the PASF project.

  3. Improved livelihoods for smallholder farmers, particularly women and youth.
  4. Strengthened collaboration among actors in the agroecology and school feeding ecosystem.

Assignment Duration 21 days (from 9th to 30th November 2025), starting after contract signing.

Expected Deliverables

  • Inception Report (within 1 week of contract signing).
