Commercial Marketing Manager at M-KOPA
About the Role
M-KOPA is looking for a Commercial Marketing Manager to join the Marketing team in Kenya as the company scales up and drives digital and financial inclusion across its markets.
In this role, you will lead the development and execution of integrated marketing strategies that build brand equity, drive market growth, and directly contribute to revenue targets. You will serve as both a strategic marketing leader and hands-on executor, combining brand-building initiatives with impactful trade marketing campaigns that increase sales through retail channels and DSR networks.
This position requires a dynamic professional capable of coordinating with M-KOPA’s Global Marketing team on brand and above-the-line initiatives while designing and implementing effective below-the-line campaigns that deliver measurable results.

As Country Marketing Manager, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening customer trust and supporting M-KOPA’s evolution into a fintech leader. You will translate the company’s strategic vision of becoming a Smart Money Platform into compelling brand narratives and marketing campaigns that resonate with local audiences.
Your work will span the full marketing spectrum — from strategic brand positioning and above-the-line campaigns to grassroots activations and trade channel development. You will manage marketing budgets, leverage analytics to optimize ROI, create engaging social media content, and execute comprehensive through-the-line strategies that deliver results.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute integrated marketing plans aligned with business objectives
- Lead cross-channel campaigns that drive brand growth and revenue performance
- Design and execute trade marketing programs for retail partners and dealer networks
- Develop consumer promotions, in-store activations, and merchandising initiatives
- Manage marketing budgets and ensure cost-effective use of resources
- Build and maintain relationships with partners, agencies, and key stakeholders
- Leverage data analytics and reporting tools to track and optimize performance
- Oversee social media content development and paid digital campaigns
- Conduct frequent field visits (30–40% of time) to monitor market execution and gather insights
Qualifications & Expertise
- 5–7 years of progressive marketing experience in FMCG, telecommunications, or BTL agency environments
- Proven success in commercial marketing, trade marketing, and brand strategy execution
- Strong understanding of Kenya’s retail landscape — modern trade, general trade, and informal markets
- Proficiency in digital marketing and tools such as Looker Studio, Supermetrics, and paid advertising platforms
- 2–3 years of experience leading and managing marketing teams
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Data-driven decision-maker with the ability to link marketing activities to revenue growth
- Excellent communication, creative problem-solving, and project management skills
- Field-oriented mindset with flexibility to work in dynamic environments
