We are a Christian school in the education sector looking for an additional Kitchen Assistant. Assisting in the day to day operation of the kitchen under the supervision of the Head of Department – Catering, help in the organization with a view to optimal resource utilization, hygiene, safety, and general operation.
Responsibilities
- Assist in ingredients preparations this includes (chopping, peeling, sorting, cutting, etc.).
- Prepare and serve meals for learners, staff, and during events.
- Ensure timely serving of all meals throughout the day.
- Ensure there is a constant supply of clean and fresh water for cleaning, and cooking.
- Participate in food preparation, and follow Head of Department – catering instructions on general kitchen operation.
- Ensure a great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served.
- Follow Head of Department – catering instructions on menus accordingly to ensure proper nutrition and healthy eating.
- Ensure safe food storage and proper management of food and kitchen items in the stores and kitchen.
- Check the quality of meal ingredients as per the day’s menu.
- Ensure removal of all food from the kitchen by packaging safely or managing waste to ensure safe and hygienic standards.
Requirements
- Diploma/Certificate in Food production or catering.
- 3 years’ relevant experience.
- Valid certificate of good conduct.
- Valid food handler’s certificate.
