Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of a Consular Officer, the Consular Associate supports operations across the American Citizen Services (ACS), Nonimmigrant Visa (NIV), Immigrant Visa, and/or Fraud Prevention Unit (FPU). The role involves providing consular services to U.S. citizens, processing non-adjudicatory visa applications, assisting with investigations and validation studies, and handling official correspondence with the public, attorneys, U.S. and host government agencies, and Congress.

Anticipated Start Date: Late January 2026 (subject to clearances and authorization).

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consular services to U.S. citizens
  • Support visa processing (non-adjudicatory)
  • Assist in fraud prevention and validation activities
  • Manage official correspondence and documentation
  • Accurately input and review data in consular systems

Qualifications

Experience

  • FP-06: Minimum 3 years of office administrative experience, including at least 1 year of consular experience
  • FP-07 (Training Level): Minimum 2 years of office administrative experience
  • FP-08 (Training Level): Minimum 1 year of office administrative experience
    Preference will be given to candidates meeting the full performance level.

Education

  • High School completion required

Language

  • English Level IV (Fluent) – Speaking, Reading & Writing

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong data accuracy and error-detection skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and database management
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and writing skills
  • Sound judgment and tact when dealing with sensitive cases
  • Ability to learn and apply U.S. and host-country laws and regulations
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOS Secret Security Clearance
