Risk & Compliance Analyst
Role Overview
The Risk & Compliance Analyst will support the implementation and integration of the Bank’s Risk Management and Compliance framework, including Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF), and Sanctions Programs, in line with Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) regulations and applicable laws.
The role involves identifying, monitoring, and mitigating regulatory, operational, and conduct risks, while ensuring compliance with internal policies, prudential guidelines, and industry best practices.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct daily transaction monitoring across all transacting channels using the Connect Portal and other reports.
- Review and track daily and weekly regulatory returns submitted by branches.
- Review alerts generated through the Financial Crime Mitigation (FCM) suite or other relevant AML systems.
- Perform Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing risk assessments and sanctions screening on escalated cases involving vendors, UBOs, and customers, including Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD).
- Maintain up-to-date risk and compliance registers and trackers to ensure timely issue resolution and closure.
- Review compliance with regulatory requirements and the Bank’s internal policies and procedures.
- Perform back-office risk management duties, including updates to the Bank’s risk matrix.
Key Qualifications and Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Law, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CAMS, or FRM. CISA will be an added advantage.
- Experience in Risk, Compliance, Audit, or AML within a banking or financial services environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good knowledge of CBK regulations, AML/CFT laws, and banking risk frameworks.
- Strong research, data mining, report writing, and presentation skills.
