Role: 

Staff/Training

  • To assist in recruiting and training packhouse direct labour whenever necessary, with the authority of Shift production manager.
  • To maintain highly motivated workforce and advice whenever necessary on any cost effective motivational strategies.
  • To maintain a high level of discipline in the facility, both in terms of conduct, processing focus and hygiene vigilance.
  • Assisting in planning or planning resource in terms of staff, equipment, etc. in advance based on the following day’s pack plan.
  • Identify and manage the Packhouse training needs to ensure that all staff has the same goals and objectives. Assess the training effectiveness and assist in improving the training modules to ensure high levels of understanding for trainees.
  • Assist / Measure performance of supervisory staff against appraisals.

 Production

  • To ensure that all orders appearing in the production plan are completed in time for cooling of the product to attain the dispatch positive release temperature and trucks release times.
  • To liaise closely with the QC Department in ensuring that all products meet the customer specifications and the expectations of AAA’s HACCP and Quality Manual in terms of Product Safety, Quality and Legality at all times.
  • Liaise closely with the Shift Production manager in ensuring availability of raw materials for the next day’s orders.
  •  Ensure raw material utilization is done correctly at all times, keeping vigilance on the traceability of the product from preparation up to dispatch and the mass balance and traceability
  • To initiate and help develop new products for the company.
  • Understand and apply the company’s Quality & HACCP Manual throughout and have a complete knowledge of which procedures, documents and records are to be used in which areas. Understand the customer specifications

System Implementation

  • Maintaining a high level of hygiene within and around the facility. He/She must ensure that there is a window period for cleaning at the end of every shift.
  • Ensuring that the laid down Quality management systems are adhered to at all times during the production process to ensure the product conforms in terms of quality, safety and Legality.

Equipments

  • Managing of all equipment and tools within the Packhouse to ensure optimal performance through scheduled maintenance, training of operators, verification checks and safe storage when not in use.
  • Ensuring that all maintenance schedules are adhered to.
  • Have a basic knowledge of the operation of all equipment in use in the facility, their maintenance, storage needs, etc as required by the manuals or as appropriate
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the direct supervisor, manager, or senior management.
