An Admission and Discharge Officer manage the entire patient intake and exit process in the hospital, acting as the primary liaison between patients, clinical staff, and billing departments.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• facilitating discharge planning to ensure a seamless patient experience.

Core Responsibilities

• Admission Management: Facilitating patient admissions, verifying insurance coverage, collecting patient information, and securing necessary consent forms.
• Discharge Planning: Coordinating with medical staff, nursing, and support services to ensure timely, safe discharge, including arranging transportation and follow-up care.
• Communication: Acting as a link between patients, families, and doctors, providing clear information on policies and procedures.
• Administrative Duties: Maintaining accurate electronic medical records, managing patient data, and updating discharge registers.
• Financial Coordination: Collaborating with the billing department to check accuracy of bills, including reviewing fees for accuracy before the patient leaves.
• Bed Management: Liaising with ward in-charges to ensure room availability.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Education: A diploma in business management/health records or health management systems
• Experience: Previous hospital experience in a similar position, particularly in patient services.
• Skills: Strong communication, organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in medical software or computer applications.
