Position Summary
The Nutrition Intern will report to the Assistant Manager – Nutrition and will support the delivery of optimal nutritional care to patients while gaining hands-on professional experience in a clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nutrition education to patients, families, and healthcare staff on individualized diet therapy and general nutrition principles
- Conduct nutritional screenings and assessments using the nutrition care process
- Develop, review, and adapt therapeutic and modified diets in collaboration with healthcare teams
- Guide the catering team on proper food preparation to meet prescribed diets and sanitation standards
- Monitor nutrition programs to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards
- Participate in ward rounds and contribute to nutrition-related aspects of patient care
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Food, Nutrition and Dietetics or a related field
- Must be indexed by the Kenya Nutritionists and Dieticians Institute (KNDI)
- High level of integrity and ethical conduct
- Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities
- Passion for patient-centered nutritional care
