The Accounts and Admin Assistant Intern will undertake a competitive three-month training program focused on building the technical and professional capabilities required to effectively support the organization’s finance and administrative functions. During this period, the intern will gain hands-on experience in accounting, financial operations, and office administration, while working within a dynamic, mission-driven organization. The program includes mentorship from high-performing professionals and, where applicable, exposure to international operations. This is a performance-based opportunity. Interns who demonstrate exceptional capability, initiative, and consistency over the three-month period will be considered for a full-time position within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Accounts Payables Support: Assist in preparing payments by verifying invoices and supporting documentation for expenses.
- Records Management: Maintain organized and accurate financial records (both digital and physical) to ensure easy retrieval.
- Treasury Support: Provide support in daily, weekly, and monthly treasury activities, including tracking basic financial movements.
- Accounts Receivables Support: Assist in monitoring billing and follow up with the relevant teams to support timely collections.
- Financial Systems: Help maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions in accounting systems.
- Cash Tracking: Support the tracking of cash movements for program funding and assist in basic reconciliations under supervision.
- Compliance Support: Assist in ensuring proper documentation and timely filing of statutory deductions (e.g., PAYE, NSSF, VAT, etc.) under guidance.
- Reporting: Support preparation of monthly financial reports and summaries.
- Audit Support: Assist in organizing documents and information required for audits.
- Cross-functional Support: Work closely with the business development team to provide basic financial and administrative support.
- Administrative & HR Support: Assist with general administrative duties including records management, and leave tracking.
- General Support: Perform any other duties assigned in support of the organization’s operations and learning objectives.
- Accounts Payables: Preparing payments with correct supporting invoices and documents, for all expenses
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Progress in professional qualifications (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is an added advantage
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with accounting systems is a plus
