JOB SUMMARY: 

Reporting to the Head of Digital and IT, we are seeking a passionate and highly driven Broadcast ICT Officer who will be responsible for providing ICT support and managing broadcast systems to ensure uninterrupted transmission, optimal system performance, and secure digital operations for Switch Media Limited. The role will bridge broadcast engineering and IT infrastructure to maintain high standards of service delivery and regulatory compliance. 

Key Job Accountabilities: 

  • Provide first- and second-level ICT support to broadcast and corporate users. 
  • Manage and maintain broadcast systems, including playout servers, automation systems, video servers, and content management systems. 
  • Monitor transmission systems to ensure continuous and high-quality on-air output. 
  • Administer and maintain network infrastructure supporting broadcast operations (LAN, WAN, VPN, firewalls, switches, routers).  
  • Ensure integration between broadcast systems and IT platforms, including storage, archiving, and streaming systems.  
  • Perform system upgrades, patches, and preventive maintenance for broadcast and ICT infrastructure.  
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software faults affecting broadcast continuity and resolve incidents within agreed SLAs.  
  • Manage user accounts, access controls, and cybersecurity protocols to protect broadcast and corporate systems. 
  • Support live production environments, including studio, Master Control Room (MCR), and Outside Broadcast (OB) setups.  
  • Maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and technical workflows. 
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for maintenance, warranties, and technical support.  
  • Implement backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity procedures for broadcast operations. 
  • Monitor system performance and generate technical reports for management review. 
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and communications regulatory requirements. 
  • Stay updated with emerging broadcast technologies, IP-based broadcasting, and digital media systems. 
  • Integrate systems with APIs and third-party applications as needed and contribute to code version control systems.
  • ​​​​​​​Stay up-to-date on the latest web development trends and technologies. 

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) 

  • Maintain high broadcast system availability and ensure uninterrupted on-air operations. 
  • Resolve technical incidents within agreed SLAs and respond promptly to critical faults. 
  • Complete all scheduled preventive maintenance, system upgrades, and security updates on time. 
  • ​​​​​​​Ensure network stability, cybersecurity compliance, and proper access control management. 
  • Implement and regularly test backup and disaster recovery procedures. 
  • Provide reliable technical support for all live production environments (Studio, MCR, OB). 
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and submit timely performance reports. 
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry and regulatory standards. 
  • Support continuous improvement through innovation and professional development. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:   

None 

DESIRED COMPETENCIES; 

  • Strong knowledge of broadcast systems, including playout automation, MCR operations, and digital transmission workflows.  
  • ​​​​​​​Experience with IP-based broadcast infrastructure and networking technologies (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching). 
  • Familiarity with virtualization environments, storage systems (NAS/SAN), and backup solutions. 
  • ​​​​​​​Knowledge of streaming technologies and OTT platforms is an added advantage. 
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles and data protection practices. 
  • Experience with Windows and Linux server administration. 
  •  Professional certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or relevant broadcast certifications are an added advantage. 
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE; – 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, Broadcast Engineering, or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in ICT support within a broadcast or media environment.
