Role Overview
The Business Development Officer is the definitive P&L leader for their assigned business unit. The role holds full accountability for total revenue, profitability, and strategic portfolio growth, acting as the final authority on all commercial deals while balancing high-margin intellectual property (IP) and partner-led revenue streams.
Key Responsibilities
- Portfolio Strategy:
Optimize the mix between high-margin and high-volume revenue streams. - Profit & Loss Ownership:
Deliver assigned revenue and margin targets with full P&L accountability. - Deal Governance:
Serve as the final authority on deal structuring and profitability. - Market Penetration:
Develop and execute strategic account plans to drive growth. - Team Leadership:
Mentor and support business development teams.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Unit Revenue vs Target (Quarterly and Annual)
- Gross Profit Margin (%) vs Target
- IP vs Partner Revenue Mix
- Account Penetration Success
- Market Share Growth
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Economics/Statistics, Business, or Finance
- MBA strongly preferred
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Strategic Business Development, Technical Sales, or P&L ownership roles
- Proven track record in revenue and profitability management
- Experience working within partner ecosystems
- Strong strategic thinking skills and commercial acumen
