Basic job summary:
The jobholder is responsible for providing safe, efficient, and reliable transportation services for the university by operating university vehicles to transport staff, students, visitors, goods, and documents, while ensuring proper vehicle maintenance and adherence to traffic regulations and university policie
Key Responsibilities
Transport Services
The duties include but are not limited to:
- Drive university vehicles to transport staff, students, visitors, and goods as assigned.
- Ensure timely pick-up and drop-off of passengers or delivery of items.
Vehicle Maintenance
The dutiesinclude but are notlimited to:
- Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any mechanical issues for prompt action.
- Ensure vehicles are clean, fueled, serviced on time, and roadworthy at all times.
Vehicle Security
The duties include but are not limited to:
- Secure the vehicle at all times and ensure keys are returned to the authorized office after trips.
- Ensure parking in designated university areas and avoid unauthorized trips.
Logistics and Record Keeping
The duties include but are not limited to:
- Maintain accurate recordsin the vehicle logbook, including mileage, fuel usage, destinations, and maintenance history.
- Assist with documentation related to vehicle movement and fuel usage reports.
Safety and Compliance
The duties include but are not limited to:
- Adhere to traffic rules and university transport policies at all times.
- Ensure safety of passengers and cargo during transportation.
- Report any incidents or accidents immediately to the Transport Officer or relevant authorities.
Team Support
The duties include but are not limited to:
- Assist in loading and offloading goods or documents as required.
- Support other departments in administrative errands (e.g., bank runs, deliveries) as needed.
Minimum Academic Qualifications:
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or equivalent.
Professional Qualifications
- Valid BCE class driving license with a clean driving record.
- Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)
- Defensive Driving Certificate and/First Aid Training is an added advantage
Experience:
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar role
