Purpose
- EnsureCapital Expenditure projects and maintenance in Engineering, Buildings and Utilities are managed professionally, cost-effectively, and within budget.
- Lead the Engineering Department to maintain buildings, plant, and utilities for uninterrupted production.
- Manage GLT and leaf machine maintenance, technical training, and spare parts to achieve productivity, quality, and cost targets.
- Guarantee supply of utilities (power, steam, air, water, vacuum) to support processing and administration.
Performance
- Achievement of Co-plan targets ensuring site readiness for current and future growth.
Principal Accountabilities
Business
- Improve equipment availability and efficiencies (OEE).
- Manage engineering, utilities, EHS, facilities, and in liaison with procurement to meet Co-plan objectives.
- Lead plant maintenance, overhauls, and modifications.
- Ensure 100% utility availability and manage energy consumption.
- Deliver projects on time, within budget, and aligned with BAT standards.
- Ensure compliance with technical, legal, and safety standards.
Leadership
- Maintain a motivated team with succession planning.
- Promote coaching, training, and talent development.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and address gaps.
- Champion organisational change and servant leadership.
Management
- Set and achieve maintenance cost, services cost, SLAs, and savings targets.
- Manage Opex and Capex budgets efficiently.
- Lead all aspects of spare parts and machinery register.
- Ensure compliance with BAT standards and local laws.
Relationship
- Collaborate with all departments, suppliers, contractors, and local authorities.
- Ensure safe working conditions and no unplanned downtime (UPDT) in processing.
Innovation
- Drive continuous improvement, best practices, and knowledge sharing across BAT locations.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering with 5+ yrs plant/engineering experience.
- Project Management experience; PMP is an advantage.
- Strong IT (MS Office, SAP) and factory operations knowledge.
- Proven leadership, communication, and contract management skills In line with BAT Leadership Capabilities
- Knowledge in Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, Integrated Work Systems (IWS) & associated pillars and Daily Management Systems (DMS’s).
- Broad understanding of factory operations
- High degree of self-motivation and discipline.
- Registered with a professional body in Engineering.
- Ability to take clear decisions in different and difficult situations and a high degree of innovation.
