Job Description

The Group reporting accountant is responsible for preparing the consolidated financial results and reports for Old Mutual East Africa. This role involves reviewing and analysing subsidiaries financial information and commentaries and preparing consolidated results, financial statements, commentaries and reports for management, board, Group, regulators and any other internal and external stakeholders.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Financial reporting

  • Timely preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements and commentaries in line with IFRS, local GAAP and Group guidelines/policies.
  • Timely preparation of finance related management and board papers for board committees as may be required.
  • Performance reviews, trend analysis and variance analysis against key performance metrices and provision of suitable commentary for subsidiaries and Group.
  • Ensure EA Group HFM submissions are done accurately and timeously – this will involve review of subsidiary submissions into HFM and preparation of the consolidated EA position.
  • Prepare other monthly group reports, including, consolidated expenses analysis and commentaries and preparation of monthly consolidated functional expense reports – ICT, marketing, HC etc.
  • Provide ongoing support to subsidiaries and be a point of contact for the group team
  • Reconciliation of non-controlling interest in HFM for EA.
  • Coordination of HFM (Group’s reporting tool) reporting and regulatory reporting across the Old Mutual Group

Audit support

  • Prepare consolidated financial statements for publication in line with regulatory requirements e.g CMA, IRA, RBA etc
  • Support the annual audit and reporting process by actively participating in the preparation of the consolidated annual financial statements of OMH Plc.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors and regulators as required

Ad Hoc and Cross-Functional Support

  • Collaborate with group and subsidiary finance teams to address ad hoc requests.
  • Participate in additional finance-related activities and projects as assigned

  • Versed with IAS, IFRS, Insurance and banking industry standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 5+ years working experience in finance or audit.
  • Experience in financial services. Experience in Insurance industry will be an added advantage
  • Experience in preparing consolidated financial statements
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting or any other related field
  • CPA (K) or ACCA
