OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
- Ensure all machines/equipment are running optimally and regularly serviced and repaired, monitoring utilities consumption, maintaining minimum stock levels, planning and execution of preventive maintenance, duty allocation and hatching day-old chicks as per breed standards through best practises in incubation management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Planning and execution of a preventive maintenance schedule ensuring all hatchery machines/equipment are serviced as per schedule and running optimally, with a target mean time between failures of 3 months
- Incubation management-monitoring, recording, profiling and calibration ensuring 100% hatch to breed standard
- Utilities monitoring-ensuring minimal wastage of water, power, and fuel through regular monitoring of utilities usage and taking corrective actions immediately
- Planning and overseeing premise, and compound facilities (electric fence, manholes and septic tanks etc)
- Spares inventory-control ordering and usage of spares, ensuring a minimum stock level is maintained
- Training, coaching and motivating maintenance personnel
- Budget and implement maintenance section’s budget
- Compliance-ensuring compliance to local/national regulatory requirements
CANDIDATES PROFILE:
- A bachelor’s degree in electrical or Mechatronics engineering. An Electrical Diploma with experience is ALSO acceptable.
- At least 3 years’ experience in a production environment
- Knowledge of incubation management is desirable and an added advantage
- Experience in a Hatchery operations is desirable and an added advantage
- Must have worked with teams and demonstrated leadership ability.
