Job description
- The ICT & Communications Officer provides technical leadership in managing and securing ADRA Kenya’s ICT systems while spearheading strategic communications to enhance the organization’s visibility and credibility. This role blends IT support, systems administration, and digital infrastructure management with communication materials development, media relations, and digital storytelling to showcase ADRA Kenya’s impact.
Specific Tasks
- Communications & Visibility
- Lead the development and implementation of ADRA Kenya’s communication strategy, ensuring compliance with ADRA and donor branding standards.
- Produce and design communication materials including reports, press releases, visibility/IEC materials, technical briefs, and presentations, manage digital platforms, capture success stories, and create multimedia content to showcase program impact.
- Build media relations, monitor coverage, and organize visibility events such as launches and press briefings.
- Communications & Visibility
- Helpdesk & User Support: Provide technical assistance, troubleshoot hardware/software issues, and manage user accounts.
- Administer Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive) and other business applications to ensure secure and efficient operations
- Install, configure, and support ICT equipment while maintaining an updated IT asset register and software license inventory.
- Implement backup, recovery, and disaster preparedness procedures, and enforce ICT policies and security protocols.
- Ensure ICT policies and security protocols are up to date and adhered to across the organization.
- Network & Infrastructure Management
- Design, configure, and maintain networks, servers, Wi-Fi, intranet, and conference room technologies to ensure reliable connectivity and functionality.
- Monitor performance, resolve connectivity issues, and advise management on ICT infrastructure, procurement needs, and cost-effective solutions.
- Identity & Security Management
- Manage and secure user identities across Active Directory, Entra ID (Azure AD), and related systems.
- Enforce IT security controls (MFA, conditional access, SSO, RBAC) and safeguard organizational systems in line with data protection and donor requirements.
- Automate business processes to increase operational efficiency.
- Training & Capacity Building
- Train and orient staff on IT systems, software applications, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Build staff capacity in photography, videography, and digital storytelling.
- Promote adoption of modern workplace tools such as Microsoft Teams,
- SharePoint, and other collaboration platforms
- Organizational Support & Reporting
- Provide regular updates and recommendations to management on ICT and communication performance.
- Contribute to ADRA Kenya’s strategic objectives by leading or supporting ICT and communication-related projects.
- Represent ADRA Kenya in relevant ICT and communication forums and networks.
- Participate in performance management processes, including objective setting, reviews, and reporting.
- Safeguarding & Compliance
- Integrate safeguarding and ethical standards in ICT and communication work.
- Report and document any suspected abuse or inappropriate behaviour as per ADRA Kenya safeguarding policies.
- Ensure responsible and ethical use of communication materials and ICT platforms.
Additional duties and responsibilities
- The responsibilities outlined above are not exhaustive. The role holder may be assigned additional tasks in line with their skills, experience, and the evolving needs of the organization.
- Education Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Communications, Computer Science, or related field.
- Certifications in CompTIA A+/Network+, Microsoft Certified Associate (M365, Azure), ITIL Foundation preferred.
- Experience 3–5 years of experience in ICT systems administration and development communications.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive), Active Directory/Azure AD, and network administration.
- Proven skills in graphic design, photography, videography, and social media management.
- Strong understanding of branding, visibility, and media engagement within the NGO sector.
