Summary
The U.S. Embassy in Nairobi is seeking eligible and qualified U.S. Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) for the position of Information Management Assistant. The successful candidate will serve as part of the Diplomatic Technology (DT) Customer Engagement team, providing front-line IT and customer service support to embassy staff. This position requires a Top Secret Security Clearance.
Start Date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period (4 weeks) after receiving agency authorization and/or security clearance.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Information Management Assistant (Diplomatic Technology Assistant) is responsible for providing first-level IT support, responding to customer inquiries both in person and through remote communication channels such as email, chat, and self-service request systems. The role requires limited system administration privileges to resolve user issues and maintain system functionality in both classified and unclassified environments.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Service Desk Support, Operations, and Systems Administration (70%)
Provide user support on classified and unclassified systems, assist with user accounts, troubleshoot IT issues, and collaborate with technical teams to resolve complex problems. - Event & VIP IT Support (15%)
Offer on-site IT support for official and high-level events. - Training, Knowledge Management, and Cybersecurity (15%)
Conduct user training, promote cybersecurity awareness, and support knowledge management initiatives.
Note: The incumbent may be assigned additional duties as required by the agency.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in an office or administrative setting providing IT or customer support, including use of office productivity tools and troubleshooting applications.
- Education: Successful completion of at least two years of full-time post-secondary study at a college or university.
Language
- English: Level IV (Fluent) – speaking, reading, and writing (this may be tested).
Skills and Abilitie
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or OpenOffice.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with people from diverse cultural and technical backgrounds.
- Eagerness to learn and develop hands-on technical skills.
- Position requires Top Secret clearance.
