What you will do

CrossBoundary Group is looking for a Communications Intern to assist with the development and implementation of internal and external communications initiatives and products across our business. The Communications Intern will be a member of CrossBoundary Group’s Communications team and report to the Global Head of Communications in Nairobi, Kenya. The Communications Intern will work closely with CrossBoundary Group’s globally distributed teams. 
 A work plan with achievements for the duration of the Internship and learning opportunities will be agreed upon.

Responsibilities 

  • Conduct research and brainstorm opportunities related to communications and branding
  • Support adapting messages from CrossBoundary’s investment advisory and investment management teams into engaging social media and marketing material
  • Plan, write, and edit text and multimedia content for blog articles, web pages, social media, video and podcast scripts, printed/promotional material, and more
  • Assist in maintaining and improving CrossBoundary websites
  • Support internal quality control and review processes
  • Help update media contact lists
  • Compile web and social media analytics reports
  • Present and update PowerPoint slides

Who You Are

  • Actively enrolled in or recently completed a university or similar educational program in Communication, Journalism, Marketing, Media Studies, International Development, or a related field
  • Interest in international finance and development, especially related to communication and branding
  • A certificate and/or training in communications management is preferred. Specific knowledge of social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, HubSpot, Google Analytics) is advantageous
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and other communications and social media software
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse audiences
  • Integrity: discretion when working with confidential and sensitive matters and information
  • Self-starter who thrives in a deadline-driven environment
  • Written and spoken proficiency in English 

Learning elements

Upon completion of the assignment, the Intern should: 

  • Have an increased understanding of the communications and marketing function in an investment advisory/management environment 
  • Have developed skills in writing, editing, and producing multimedia content for online channels
  • Have increased proficiency using graphic design and content management software for business
  • Be able to work as a team member in a globally distributed multicultural environment
