Job Description

  • Organize and perform diagnostic pathological tests, analysis of water, plant, and media samples.
  • To organize water, plant and media sampling for external laboratory analysis.
  • Organize and perform routine laboratory tests on plant and seed samples to screen for seed transmittable diseases.
  • Manage laboratory equipment calibration, maintenance, and phytosanitary documentation for traceability and compliance, including GSPP standards.
  • To organize external and perform calibration of laboratory equipment to ensure data accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitor the efficacy of disinfectants and ensure adherence to phytosanitary requirements to control pests and diseases.
  • Organize and evaluate the team to measure performance and identify areas of improvement.
  • Train semi-skilled workers on phytosanitary standards and requirement and organize proficiency tests in liaison with Production Leads to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure cost efficiency and effectiveness through proper management of laboratory consumables.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of laboratory procedures, test results, and experimental data for future reference and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensuring adherence to Phytosanitary requirements in production to control pests and diseases.
  • Responsible for maintaining GSPP standards by ensuring the necessary records are updated and compliant.
  • Participate in regular quality control checks and audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.
  • Enforcing Syngenta HSE policy in all business operations.
  • Any other tasks & projects may be allocated from time to time by the line manager.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in applied biology, chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, or related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred will be an added advantage.
  • 3-4 years of experience in laboratory testing and analysis.
  • Proficiency with laboratory equipment and materials.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
