Medical Officer – CCU

Location: AAR Hospital, Kiambu Road
Job Type: Contract

AAR Hospital is seeking a qualified and dedicated Medical Officer – CCU to join its medical team. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, treating, providing consultations, and admitting patients within the Critical Care Departments.

Responsibilities

  • Ethically review and institute appropriate therapeutic interventions for patients admitted to critical care units or requiring critical care across the hospital.
  • Review patients in other units where CCU/HDU support is needed and make appropriate decisions on required interventions.
  • Assist in coaching and mentoring nursing staff on various aspects of critical care and management of critical illnesses.
  • Perform medical procedures expected of a CCU Medical Officer.
  • Ensure high standards of diagnostic accuracy and patient care are maintained.
  • Prepare medical reports and other clinical documents as required.
  • Ensure professionalism and timeliness in handling clients at both individual and departmental levels.
  • Participate in continuous medical education, development of departmental clinical protocols, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Take part in research, clinical audits, and departmental review programs.
  • Ensure consistency in clinical protocols and provision of care.
  • Maintain regular and adequate communication with patients and their relatives on clinical progress.
  • Advocate for excellent patient care and outcomes.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).
  • Valid certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification is an added advantage.
  • European Paediatric Advanced Life Support (EPALS) certification is an added advantage.

Experience and Registration:

  • At least one year of post-internship experience.
  • Experience in private practice is an added advantage.
  • Valid registration and annual practice license.
  • Registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board (KMPDB).
