ABOUT THE ROLE
MSI Reproductive Choices Kenya is an NGO registered in Kenya as a local implementing partner of MSI Reproductive Choices, a UK charity. We deliver quality sexual and reproductive healthcare, family planning and other women’s health services to millions of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable women. We want to make sure that women have a choice when it comes to having children and that death by unsafe abortion is reduced.
We are seeking to recruit Midwife nurse who will be reporting to the Centre Manager and supporting Matron, s/he will play an important part in effective clinical teamwork and be responsible for high quality frontline service delivery to our clients. The job holder will ensure that all clients are treated with compassion, dignity and respect placing value on the diversity of the local community and beyond. She will promote best practice in the prevention of infection through ensuring a clean and safe environment for motherhood.
The mid-wife key responsibility is to ensure provision of delivery services, nursing care and treatment for all clients at our MSIK CEmONC Hospital, documenting all care activities provided to clients, maintain confidentiality of patients’ records and maintain care of all commodities within the facility. Additionally, S/he will participate in patient referral where needed.
REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, skills and attitudes
Skills:
- Proven clinical experience and demonstrable commitment to learn and develop skills
- Up-to-date knowledge of Neonatal Resuscitation equipment, such as a ventilator, incubator.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- High regard for confidentiality and demonstrable integrity
- Excellent communicator – both written and spoken
- Commitment to excellent client care and the delivery of client-focused services.
- High level of attention to detail
- High level of professionalism and management of clients
- Team player who accepts constructive criticism and is comfortable with giving constructive criticism.

- Ability to work flexibly to meet service needs
Qualifications:
- KRCHN /KRN/BSN
- Must have higher Diploma in KRM – registered & current license with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
- Minimum of 2 years working experience in Midwifery
- Certificate in CEmONC training and/or NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) is mandatory.
- Current BLS/PALS (Paediatric Advanced Life Support) certificate a plus
- Practising knowledge of Sexual Reproductive Health an advantage
