Job Purpose Statement
The Network Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and securing the bank’s network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and availability. The role supports both on-premise and cloud-based environments, safeguards connectivity, and enables seamless communication across the business. It demands expertise in LAN/WAN technologies, firewalls, switches, routing protocols, and network monitoring tools to deliver secure, scalable, and cost-effective solutions.
Key Accountabilities (Duties and Responsibilities)
- Network Design & Planning (35%)
Plan, configure, and optimize network systems to meet business needs and performance standards.
Conduct capacity planning to ensure infrastructure scales with organizational growth. - Network Management & Support (30%)
Monitor and maintain uptime across all network platforms.
Troubleshoot incidents, manage service recovery, and ensure compliance with SLAs. - Network Security (15%)
Implement and enforce network security policies, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
Safeguard against unauthorized access, data breaches, and other cyber threats. - Integration & Optimization (10%)
Align network architecture with business objectives and emerging technologies.
Ensure smooth integration between systems and platforms. - Projects & Upgrades (10%)
Execute network projects, upgrades, and patching schedules in line with bank requirements.
Monitor performance and recommend continuous improvements.
Job Specifications
Academic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Professional Certifications (Added Advantage):
- CCNA / CCNP / CCIE
- ITIL Certification
- Security certifications such as CISM / CISSP (preferred).
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in network administration in a medium to large organization.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, or similar networking solutions.
- Exposure to cloud networking (Azure/AWS) is desirable.
- Prior experience in banking or financial services is an added advantage.
