Kenya-AIST seeks Professors and Associate Professors in numerous fields, with the mandate to lead high-impact research, supervise postgraduate students, design innovative curricula, and collaborate with industry and international partners.
1. Professor Positions – Kenya-AIST Grade 3

Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and establish research partnerships and specialist networks.
- Attract research funding and manage sponsored projects.
- Publish high-impact scholarly work.
- Mentor postgraduate students and supervise theses/dissertations.
- Design, review, and implement innovative academic programmes.
- Promote technology transfer and commercialization of research.
- Contribute to institutional governance and community outreach.
Requirements for Appointment
- A PhD in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
- At least 5 years of teaching/research experience as an Associate Professor or 9 years at university level.
- A minimum of 3 peer-reviewed publications as an Associate Professor (or 6 as Senior Lecturer).
- Successful supervision of at least three (3) postgraduate students to completion, including one PhD.
- Demonstrated ability to attract research funding.
- Membership in a relevant professional body (where applicable).
- Compliance with Chapter 6 of the Constitution.
2. Associate Professor Positions – Kenya-AIST Grade 4
Duties & Responsibilities
- Participate in curriculum design, programme review, and teaching.
- Conduct research and publish in high-ranking journals.
- Supervise postgraduate students.
- Foster collaborations with stakeholders, industry, and global research networks.
- Support innovation, commercialization, and technology transfer.
Requirements for Appointment
- A PhD in a relevant field.
- At least 3 years of experience as a Senior Lecturer or 6 years of university-level teaching/research experience.
- At least 3 peer-reviewed publications as Senior Lecturer.
- Successful supervision of at least three (3) master’s students.
- Evidence of attracting research grants is an added advantage.
- Registered with a professional body where applicable.
- Compliance with Chapter 6 of the Constitution.
