Research Officer

Position: Research Officer
Reporting to: Head of Research
Purpose
To glorify God by developing and participating in hospital-wide research.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of Quality Improvement (QI) projects related to:
- Infection Prevention and Control (IPC)
- Hand hygiene
- Blood culture contamination
- Infectious disease documentation
- Coach clinical, IPC, AMS, and laboratory teams on quality improvement methods and support intervention planning, implementation, and outcome measurement
- Facilitate collaborative learning sessions, workshops, and continuous improvement activities
- Document and report on quality improvement progress, lessons learned, and recommendations
- Collect and analyze data on antimicrobial use and resistance patterns
- Support the development and revision of hospital antibiograms and local treatment guidelines
- Provide feedback and promote rational antibiotic use through clinical engagement and education
- Collect clinical and laboratory data from patient records using standardized tools
- Conduct routine data validation, cleaning, and quality control checks
Qualifications, Experience, Competencies and Attributes
- Degree or Diploma in a health-related field (e.g., Nursing, Medicine, Clinical Medicine, Pharmacy, etc.)
- Experience with Quality Improvement, Infection Prevention and Control, Antimicrobial Resistance, or healthcare surveillance preferred
- Strong skills in data collection, analysis, and electronic data entry systems (e.g., RedCap)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic statistical tools
- Strong communication, teamwork, training, and organizational abilities
