Role Summary
- The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of all financial operations at Classic Mouldings. Reporting to the Head of Finance, this position involves hands-on management of accounting functions, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls.
- You will support budgeting, payroll, procurement, tax, and audit processes while contributing to financial planning and decision-making across departments.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Planning
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decisions and business growth.
- Assist in developing budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
- Support management with scenario modeling and investment feasibility studies.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and financial efficiency across departments.
Financial Operations & Reporting
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Assist in the preparation of IFRS-compliant financial statements.
- Manage general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and account closing processes.
- Maintain accurate financial records and audit-ready documentation.
Tax & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with KRA obligations (VAT, PAYE, WHT, Corporation Tax).
- Handle statutory returns and ensure accurate filing on the iTax platform.
- Liaise with external auditors and tax consultants during audits and reviews.
Payroll & Casual Labor Compliance
- Prepare and process monthly payroll, including statutory deductions and remittances.
- Manage compliance for casual labor payments and documentation.
- Ensure accuracy in all employee-related financial matters.
Procurement & Cost Oversight
- Collaborate with procurement and project teams to track job costing and profitability.
- Support budget approvals, LPO processing, and supplier reconciliations.
- Monitor compliance with internal procurement and payment policies.
Inventory & Cost Control
- Monitor raw materials and finished goods inventory for accurate valuation.
- Work with store and production teams to maintain stock integrity.
- Support initiatives to control costs and enhance margins.
Team Support & Collaboration
- Supervise junior accountants and provide coaching and task oversight.
- Work closely with other departments to improve financial awareness and compliance.
- Promote a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- CPA(K) or ACCA qualification (mandatory).
- Additional certifications in tax, financial strategy, or financial management are a plus.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- At least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing, construction, or project-based business is preferred.
- Familiarity with casual labor payroll management is an added benefit.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Sage Accounting or a similar ERP system.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, financial modeling).
- Strong understanding of KRA systems, tax filing, and Kenyan compliance frameworks.
