Overview
The U.S. Mission in Nairobi is seeking qualified and eligible applicants for the position of Strategic Content Coordination Assistant in the Public Diplomacy office.
The role involves developing and delivering high-quality visual, digital, and multimedia content to support public engagement initiatives across Kenya. The successful candidate will contribute to the Mission’s communication strategy by producing compelling content tailored to target audiences.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation and Implementation (70%)
- Design, develop, and deliver visual, written, and multimedia content for online platforms, including the embassy website and social media channels
- Produce videos, graphics, photos, and other multimedia materials
- Create content packages for digital campaigns and public engagement initiatives
- Support both digital and traditional media outreach
Strategic Planning and Analysis (10%)
- Monitor and analyze digital trends and audience preferences
- Develop and maintain content calendars aligned with communication priorities
- Evaluate performance of content and recommend improvements
- Contribute to public diplomacy strategies and planning frameworks
Coordination and Collaboration (10%)
- Work closely with internal teams to enhance communication efforts
- Support website updates and ensure content accuracy
- Collaborate on cross-departmental communication campaigns
Administrative Functions (10%)
- Maintain inventory of digital production equipment and software
- Prepare reports, scripts, and correspondence in English and Kiswahili
- Support grants and project coordination activities
Requirements
Education
- An associate’s degree or at least two years of university study in design, advertising, mass communication, or a related field
Experience
- A minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in multimedia content creation, digital marketing, or communications
- Demonstrated proficiency in industry-standard design and multimedia tools
- A portfolio of original work showcasing visual and multimedia capabilities is required
Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of digital media and content trends
- Advanced skills in multimedia production and design tools
- Excellent written and visual communication abilities
- Analytical skills for evaluating content performance
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili
Additional Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance
- Willingness to travel within Kenya when required
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends
