About the Role
M-KOPA is seeking a Trade Marketing Manager to join the Marketing team in Kenya as the company continues to scale up and drive digital and financial inclusion across its markets.
In this role, you will lead the development and execution of integrated marketing strategies that build brand equity, drive market growth, and directly contribute to revenue targets. You will serve as both a strategic marketing leader and hands-on executor, combining brand-building initiatives with impactful trade marketing campaigns that boost sales through retail and DSR networks.
This position requires a dynamic professional capable of coordinating with M-KOPA’s Global Marketing team on brand and above-the-line initiatives while designing and implementing effective below-the-line campaigns that deliver measurable results.

As Country Marketing Manager, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening customer trust and supporting M-KOPA’s evolution into a fintech leader. You’ll translate the company’s strategic vision of becoming a Smart Money Platform into compelling local brand narratives and campaigns.
Your work will span from strategic brand positioning and above-the-line campaigns to grassroots activations and trade channel development — leveraging both creativity and data-driven marketing to deliver growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute integrated marketing plans aligned with business objectives
- Lead through-the-line marketing initiatives across digital and offline channels
- Build and strengthen trade marketing strategies across dealer and retail networks
- Design and implement consumer promotions, incentive programs, and merchandising activities
- Manage budgets, partnerships, and stakeholder relationships effectively
- Utilize analytics to optimize marketing ROI and performance across all media channels
- Oversee social media content creation, community management, and paid campaigns
- Drive brand awareness through roadshows, activations, and in-market events
- Spend 30–40% of time in the field to assess market execution and gather insights
Qualifications & Expertise
- 5–7 years of progressive marketing experience in FMCG, telecoms, mobile device, or BTL agency environments
- Proven experience in trade marketing, BTL activations, and strategic brand planning
- Deep understanding of Kenya’s retail landscape (modern trade, general trade, and informal markets)
- Proficiency in digital marketing, social media, and analytics platforms (e.g., Looker Studio, Supermetrics)
- 2–3 years of team management experience with strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills
- Data-driven mindset with ability to connect marketing activities to business results
- Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills
- Field-oriented, self-starter, and thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments
