Job Description
MAIN PURPOSE
The ICT Officer will be responsible for supporting the management, security, and maintenance of ICT systems, networks, and infrastructure while providing day-to-day support to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient organizational operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
ICT Support and Administration
- Provide ICT technical support to users, escalating complex issues as needed.
- Assist in ICT needs assessment, asset management, and basic reporting.
- Support the implementation of ICT policies, procedures, and standards.
- Maintain documentation of ICT systems and user guidelines.
Network and Infrastructure
- Assist in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting servers, storage, and operating systems (Windows and Unix).
- Support network devices (routers, switches, firewalls) including setup, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Perform basic administration of identity and access management, user accounts, and permissions.
- Provide technical administration and user support for email systems, Office 365 services, and collaboration platforms such as Teams and OneDrive.
System and Information Security
- Monitor and analyze system alerts, logs, and potential security incidents, escalating issues when necessary.
- Implement and monitor endpoint protection (antivirus, anti-malware, endpoint detection and response tools).
- Support patch management, updates, and security configurations across systems and devices.
- Assist with vulnerability scans, penetration testing, and remediation activities.
- Support data protection measures, including encryption, secure transmission, and access controls.
- Assist in responding to cybersecurity incidents, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with ICT security standards.
Business Continuity
- Support routine backups and assist in recovery processes when required.
- Maintain inventory of ICT hardware, software, and licenses.
Technical Support
- Provide user support through systematic troubleshooting and alternative solutions.
- Train and guide staff on ICT best practices and system use.
- Support end users during system rollouts or upgrades.
Other Tasks
- Provide input in procurement of ICT and security-related equipment/software.
- Carry out any other ICT-related duties assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- Networking certification – Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- ICT Security certification – CompTIA Security+, CCNA Security, or Microsoft Certified Security
- ITIL Foundation certification is an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in ICT systems, networks, and security administration
- Hands-on experience with LAN/WAN, firewalls, and endpoint protection
- Exposure to cloud platforms (Microsoft 365, Azure, or similar)
- Experience supporting security audits or compliance requirements is an advantage
