The Data Entry Clerk (Finance) will be responsible for sorting documents, typing information from paper formats into computer files or database systems manually, through scanning or both, and transferring documents from one station to the next.

Key Duties/Responsibilities

  • Transfer data from paper formats into computer files or database systems using keyboards, data recorders, or optical scanners.
  • Type in data provided directly from customers.
  • Create spreadsheets with large numbers of figures without mistakes.
  • Verify data by comparing it to source documents.
  • Accurately and in a timely manner update existing data.
  • Accurately and in a timely manner retrieve data from the database or electronic files as requested.
  • Perform regular backups to ensure data preservation.
  • Sort and organize paperwork after entering data to ensure it is not lost.

Key Outputs/Deliverables

  • Timely and accurate preparation of the daily cash flow reports.
  • Prompt receipt of payments from clients after timely receipt of invoices.
  • Safe storage of documents for easier retrieval during internal, external, and statutory audits.
  • Strict adherence to the company’s finance and accounting policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Timely and accurate posting of transactions on the financial management system.

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Fast typing skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of word processing tools and spreadsheets (MS Office Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of office equipment, computer hardware, and peripheral devices.
  • Basic understanding of databases.
  • Good command of English, both oral and written, and customer service skills.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Highest level of personal and professional integrity.

Academic and Professional Qualifications and Experience Required

  • High school certificate with an overall C+ grade.
  • Must have C+ and above in Mathematics.
