The Opportunity
EAMDA is seeking a creative, motivated, and detail-oriented Communications and Media Associate to support the implementation of the organization’s communications, visibility, and branding activities.
The Communications and Media Associate will gain hands-on experience in content creation, digital communications, social media management, visual storytelling, event coverage, and brand management while working closely with programme teams to showcase EAMDA’s work and impact across agricultural market systems.
This SPARK internship offers an excellent opportunity for an emerging communications professional to build practical experience in the international development and agribusiness sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Content Development & Storytelling
- Support the development of high-quality content for EAMDA’s communication channels, including social media, website, newsletters, reports, blogs, and promotional materials.Â
- Draft stories, success stories, case studies, beneficiary profiles, and impact narratives from programme activities.Â
- Assist in documenting project milestones, field activities, stakeholder engagements, and learning events.Â
- Support the production of multimedia content including videos, photography, infographics, podcasts, and short-form digital content.Â
Digital Communications & Social Media
- Support the implementation of EAMDA’s digital communications and social media strategy.Â
- Create and schedule content across social media platforms including LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and other emerging channels.Â
- Monitor audience engagement and support online community management activities.Â
- Assist in tracking social media performance and preparing periodic analytics reports.Â
Brand Management & Visibility
- Support the consistent application of EAMDA’s brand guidelines across all communication materials.Â
- Assist in designing branded presentations, brochures, factsheets, banners, and marketing collateral.Â
- Contribute to strengthening EAMDA’s visibility among partners, donors, clients, and stakeholders.Â
- Support the maintenance of EAMDA’s digital asset library, ensuring proper organization and accessibility of photos, videos, and communication materials.Â
Events & Stakeholder Engagement
- Assist in planning and promoting events, workshops, trainings, conferences, field visits, and stakeholder engagement activities.Â
- Support event documentation through photography, videography, interviews, and post-event reporting.Â
- Assist in preparing communication materials and media kits for public events and campaigns.Â
Media Monitoring & Knowledge Management
- Monitor media coverage, industry developments, and emerging trends relevant to agriculture, agribusiness, and market systems development.Â
- Support the compilation of media monitoring reports and communication metrics.Â
- Assist in organizing communication resources, publications, and knowledge products.Â
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with programme teams to identify and document stories of impact and learning.Â
- Support internal communication initiatives that promote staff engagement and organizational culture.Â
- Perform other communication and branding-related assignments as required.Â
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in:
- Communications/Journalism/Public Relations/Media Studies/Digital Communications
- MarketingÂ
- Graphic DesignÂ
- Development CommunicationÂ
- Or a related fieldÂ
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated interest in communications, media, branding, or digital marketing.Â
- Experience creating content for social media platforms.Â
- Basic graphic design skills using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or equivalent design tools.Â
- Basic photography and videography skills.Â
- Familiarity with video editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, Final Cut Pro, or equivalent.Â
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.Â
- Knowledge of social media management tools is an added advantage.Â
- Interest in agriculture, agribusiness, entrepreneurship, or international development is desirable.Â

Eligibility
Applicants should:
- Be recent graduates (within the last three years).
- Be available for the full three-month internship period.Â
Organizational Information
- This is a three-month internship position based in Nairobi.Â
- Hybrid working arrangements may apply depending on assignments.Â
- Occasional travel within Kenya may be required.Â
- SPARK Associates will receive structured mentorship and professional development support.Â
- A monthly internship stipend will be provided.Â
