Job Purpose

The Systems & Infrastructure Officer is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization’s IT hardware, software, local area networks (LAN), and wide area networks (WAN) in a manufacturing environment. This role ensures reliable IT infrastructure to support production processes, minimize downtime, and enhance operational efficiency in a fast-paced manufacturing setup.

Job Description

  • Install, configure, and maintain hardware components such as servers, workstations, and networking equipment.
  • Manage and troubleshoot software systems, including operating systems and network protocols.
  • Oversee LAN and WAN configurations, ensuring secure and efficient data transmission across manufacturing facilities.
  • Monitor network performance, conduct regular maintenance, and implement upgrades to support manufacturing operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate IT infrastructure with manufacturing systems like ERP and automation tools.
  • Develop and enforce IT policies for hardware and network security, including backups and disaster recovery plans.
  • Provide technical support to end-users in resolving hardware, software, LAN, and WAN related issues.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in IT infrastructure management, preferably in a manufacturing setup.

Key Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of hardware (servers, routers, switches) and software systems.
  • Proficiency in networking protocols (TCP/IP, VLANs) and tools for LAN/WAN management.
  • Experience with manufacturing-specific systems, such as SCADA or IoT integration for production lines.
  • Certifications like CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a production environment.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with non-technical staff.
